Find your way around the night sky with this handy guide to stargazing for beginners, written by Sir Patrick Moore.

Find your way around the night sky with this handy guide to stargazing for the complete novice. In Philip's Guide to the Night Sky, Sir Patrick Moore explains how to find the most famous constellations and the brightest stars, and when to look for them. Clear star maps, showing stars visible to the naked eye, help you to navigate the skies. The maps are suitable for use in Britain, Ireland, northern Europe and Canada.

Sir Patrick introduces the wonders of the night sky to absolute beginners in his characteristically entertaining and informative style. The Moon, the planets, the Sun and the stars are explained in non-technical language, while the constellations are described with the help of star maps and tables.

The four main chapters in Philip's Guide to the Night Sky are devoted to what's on view in each season of the year. The information is appropriate for observers in Britain and Ireland, northern Europe and Canada; it will also be helpful a little outside these latitudes. Using prominent patterns, such as the Plough and Orion, Sir Patrick teaches the reader to 'star-hop' from constellation to constellation, thus learning to navigate the night sky. Star maps and photographs illustrate and clarify what will be on view.

Philip's Guide to the Night Sky is an ideal introduction to stargazing, suitable for all ages and with no need for anything more technical than the naked eye.

Four-Legged Therapy

Four- Legged Therapy is a delightfully illustrated collection of ten stories that recognise the therapeutic value of having animals in our lives. A charming exploration of how pets can support our minds and bodies in everyday life. From grumpy cats, fat dogs and muddy ducks to goats in a classroom and rescue-hens in a care home, this book recognises animals as the unsung heroes that save lives and make life worth living. Animals offer companionship, love and fun. They teach us the gift of kindness and acceptance. They can connect us to the world, slow down time and sharpen our senses in a kind of informal meditation. They can be good listeners, offering reassurance and devotion that steadies our self-esteem. They ask us for routine and consistency, to show a kind of resilience that is good for us."Your dog's utter faith in your humanity will make you feel like more and more of a human, every day"- Caroline O'Donoghue, author of 'Promising Young Women', shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards writing about the joy of unconditional from her Jack-Russell terrier, Sylvie. "I feel as if I've been permitted a glimpse into the wonder at the very heart of life, led there by my dog" - Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, author of Things My Dog Has Taught Me: About being a better human.

Here's One I Made Earlier

"Who would have thought you could create a cat bed from a washing-up bowl, design a doll's house from an old shoe box or make a flower pot from a margarine tub - all on live television!" Valerie Singleton, Blue Peter presenter 1962-1972"My ultimate favourite has to be Tracy Island. I loved all the little details, such as the bendable pipe cleaner, palm trees and that it was compatible with the shop bought Thunderbirds toys."Konnie Huq, Blue Peter presenter, 1997-2008Blue Peter is the longest-running children's programme in the world. At its peak, before the days of streaming andsocial media, it notched up 8 million viewers an episode and received a thousand letters a day. Recently voted the UK's best children's TV programme of all time, it was - and remains - famous for its makes, all of which used inexpensive household items such as cereal boxes and squeezy bottles, as well as the essential sticky-backed plastic and rubber solution glue. This affectionate celebration of the favourite makes from the show, has facsimiles from the Blue Peter annuals and includes the iconic Advent Crown, made with wire coat hangers, tinsel and candles. A Christmas Door Decoration, made from a polystyrene ceiling tile, some more tinsel and a cake doily. A Luxury Cat Basket, made from a washingup bowl. Plant Pots using old margarine tubs. A Doll's House made from a shoebox (with furniture made from matchboxes). Plus, of course, the instructions for the Blue Peter version of Thunderbirds Tracy Island.
