Alex Mitchell

Alex Mitchell studied at the Chelsea Physic Garden. She has a weekly column in the Evening Standard and writes regularly for magazines and newspapers, including the Sunday Telegraph and Gardener's World magazine. Amber Butchart

Amber specialises in the historical intersections between dress, politics and culture. She has written books on the perennial influence of nautical dress and the impact of film on fashion, and she is regularly asked to speak at cultural hotspots from the Tate to the V&A. Amber recently presented A Stitch in Time, a six-part series on BBC Four that fused biography, art and the history of fashion to explore the lives of historical figures through the clothes they wore. It was described as "snappy and engaging" by The Guardian, "hugely enjoyable" by The Telegraph and "mesmerising" by the Radio Times. This was followed by Civilisations Stories: The First Refugees for BBC One and BBC Four, about the Huguenot silk weavers of Spitalfields for the landmark BBC Civilisations season. Her two-part documentary for BBC Radio 4 tracked the rise of vintage clothing and the global ramifications of secondhand style (see here for more). Amber's expertise spans a number of areas. She is a National Crime Agency External Advisor as a Consultant Forensic Garment Analyst, working with Alecto Forensics on cases that require investigation of clothing and textiles. She is an Associate Lecturer in Cultural and Historical Studies at London College of Fashion, and a former Research Fellow at the University of the Arts London. She has penned articles for The Guardian, Times Literary Supplement, Financial Times, Icon and The Pool, and is a regular contributor to Frieze.?Amber began her career as Head Buyer and Trend Analyst for international vintage clothing company Beyond Retro. During this time she was interviewed for The Observer as one of the fashion world's best buyers and photographed for Vogue as a girl with great British style. She established the Beyond Retro Design Archive which sells vintage inspiration pieces to global fashion houses, and she was a contributor to leading trend forecasting company WGSN. She has also worked as a design consultant for fashion brands.?Amber is one half of creative collaboration the Broken Hearts, whose spectacular DJ sets were described by The Independent as "a Hollywood musical on hallucinogenics." Together they have graced stages across the globe from Paris to New York and Hong Kong for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood and Louis Vuitton. Their weekly primetime radio show on Jazz FM ran for over 3 years, earning them a Radio Academy Award nomination, and was described by The Guardian as "a cool swing music show hosted by two vintage style icons." Annabel Rivkin & Emilie McMeekan of The Midult

Annabel Rivkin and Emilie McMeekan founded The Midult in 2016. They are journalists, worriers and incredibly good friends. Annabel has written for everybody from The Times to Vogue, while Emilie has been Features Editor of the Evening Standard and Deputy Editor of Tatler. Together they write a Midult column in the Saturday Telegraph Magazine and Annabel has a column in the Evening Standard's ES Magazine. Emilie is sunshine, Annabel is brimstone and together they wrote this book, lying on the floor a lot and stroking their beards.

Dean Edwards

After coming second in BBC's Masterchef Goes Large in 2006, Dean Edwards sought to change his life radically by leaving his career as a digger driver to pursue his love of cooking and food.Dean's likeable persona and family-friendly cooking style has made him a firm favourite on ITV's Lorraine since 2010, but he originally made his ITV debut on This Morning in September 2009, where he featured in a weekly cookery slot, creating dishes for the ITV audience.

Dr Ross Bayton

Dr Ross Bayton gained a Bachelor's degree in tropical ecology, and later a Masters and a PhD, both in taxonomy. He is the co-author of RHS Genealogy for Gardeners and RHS Gardening School (both Mitchell Beazley), and worked for three years at BBC Gardeners' World Magazine.

Ella Kasperowicz

Ella Kasperowicz received her illustration licence from Falmouth University in 2017 and loves playing with pens, words and ideas. She is also one third of 'spud' collaborative, a trio in a long distance illustrationship making work together about food and travel.

Frances Ambler

Frances Ambler is a London-based writer and art historian. She has a special interest in 20th-century design and is the author of Mid-Century Modern: Icons of Design and The Story of the Bauhaus. She has worked with museums and galleries across the globe, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, London's Victoria and Albert Museum and the Scottish Sculpture Trust.

Hattie Newman

Hattie Newman has earned an international reputation for her inimitable creations in the field of set design and papercraft. Found in advertisements, animations, physical spaces and books, her colourful work is loved by children, publishers and photographers alike. Hattie has directed a number of playful short films and animations, in which her wonderful paper sculptures magically come to life - most recently in a Christmas TV Commercial for the fashion brand, Lacoste. Although based at her London studio, projects regularly call Hattie away to work in New York, Paris, Valencia, Milan and other places far from her original home of Devon, England. Her clients include Lacoste, TFL, NSPCC, The Guardian, Honda, Canon and John Lewis. As well as practicing commercially, Hattie is also active in design education, giving frequent talks and workshops to adults, students and children. Recent guest lectures include Brief Design Festival in Madrid, Papier Hier in Amsterdam and Beyonderground Festival in Belgium. Jake Spicer

Jamie Butterworth

Jamie Butterworth is an RHS Ambassador who has had a passion for gardening since the age of nine, when he converted his grandparents back garden in Wakefield into his own allotment. He was a finalist in BBC 3's Young Gardener of the Year in 2011 and went on to study for two years at RHS Wisley Gardens. Leaving with a distinction in 2015, Jamie become Show Plant Manager for leading plant nursery Hortus Loci, where he was responsible for growing plants for all major RHS shows, including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Jamie's work as an ambassador for the RHS sees him travel across the UK, visiting schools and colleges where he shows young people what a fun, exciting and rewarding career horticulture really is, and how horticulture really can save the world. Jeff Wignall, former camera columnist for the New York Times and Technical Editor of Photo District News, has written numerous best-selling books, including The Joy of Digital Photography. Kate Humble

Kate Humble is a farmer, writer, activist, entrepreneur and one of the UK's best-known TV presenters. Katherine Allen

Katherine Allen has been teaching Qigong and Taiji from 1992. She is a senior instructor member, past committee member and honorary vice president of The Tai Chi Union for Great Britain. She is a Level 8 senior instructor of Practical Tai Chi Chuan International, and an instructor member of the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts. Since 1992 she has taught thousands of people of all ages and requirements, and given workshops, talks, demonstrations and performances to a wide variety of groups and institutions, including London Mind Body Soul exhibitions and GMTV. Her longtime interest in physical and mental health and the mysteries of a joyful, peaceful, youthful spirit are driving forces in her life.

Kathryn Bruton

Kathryn Bruton has spent over ten years working in the food industry, from restaurant kitchens and private catering to working on Masterchef. She has also worked on a host of best selling cookbooks, as well as appearing frequently on Irish television. The Skinny Series (including Skinny Soups and Skinny Salads) reflects her ambition to create enticing and unusual recipes that are high in nutrition and low in calories.

Katie Caldesi

Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi own London's Caffé Caldesi as well as Caldesi in Campagna in Bray. They co-authored Around The World in Salads and The Gentle Art of Preserving which was nominated for the André Simon Food Book Award and the Guild of Food Writers' Cookbook of the Year award. They have both appeared on Saturday Kitchen. Katie is also the author of The Italian Cookery Course. Giancarlo was diagnosed with diabetes in 2012. Since then he has gone into remission after changing his diet to a low-carb diet.

Lia Leendertz is an award-winning garden and food writer. She writes a monthly almanac column for the Telegraph, a monthly column for The Garden magazine and a long-running series on growing and eating seasonally for Simple Things magazine.
