Chris Young

Andrew Wilson

Andrew Wilson is a founding Director of The London School of Garden Design and an award winning garden designer, lecturer and writer. He is Chief Assessor for the RHS for show gardens and has been assessing and judging for over 12 years, mainly at Chelsea and Hampton Court flower shows. He writes a regular column for Gardens Illustrated and has contributed to a series of books, including Influential Gardeners, The Book of Garden Plans and the Book of Plans for Small Gardens (all Mitchell Beazley). He is also the founding editor of The Garden Design Journal and regularly contributes to the RHS journal The Garden.
Hilary Thomas

Hilary Thomas has lectured in Garden Design at the highly-regarded Capel Manor Horticultural College in London, UK. She has been designing gardens for 15 years and teaching students the essential techniques for 12 years since establishing the first planting design course at Capel Manor.

Rae Spencer-Jones

Rae Spencer-Jones studied horticulture before joining the editorial team of Gardens Illustrated magazine. Now a freelance horticultural journalist and author, she has written on all areas of horticulture for a wide range of gardening publications, including the gardening pages of the Daily Telegraph and The Times, Gardener's World magazine, and Gardens Illustrated. Her own book, Wild Flowers of Britain and Northern Europe, was published by Kyle Cathie in 2005. George Plumptre

George Plumptre is an author, journalist, and lecturer, acknowledged as an international authority on gardens and gardening. From 1993-1996 he was the gardening correspondent for The Times. He has lectured on a wide range of garden subjects in Britain, the USA, and South Africa, and has contributed articles to such publications as Country Life, Homes & Gardens, The Daily Telegraph, Architectural Digest (USA) and Conde Nast House & Garden (South Africa). Dan Pearson

Dan Pearson is an influencial landscape and garden designer with an international reputation for design and planting excellence. Dan trained at the RHS Garden, Wisley, and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, before starting his professional career as a designer in 1987. His London-based practice Dan Pearson Studio now handles a wide range of projects internationally for private and public clients. Dan is the weekly gardening columnist for The Observer Magazine, and has presented and appeared in TV series on BBC2, Channel 4 and Channel 5, and has designed five award winning Chelsea Flower Show Gardens.

Anne McIntyre

Anne McIntyre is a Fellow of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and has been practising herbal medicine for over 25 years. She has studied Ayurveda for over 20 years and has incorporated its wisdom into her herbal practice. She teaches Ayurvedic medicine, gynaecology, obstetrics and paediatrics, and lectures extensively on herbal medicine and Ayurveda in the UK, USA and Europe. W. Anthony Lord

Tony Lord is a gardening author, photographer and consultant with an expert eye for effective planting combinations. Formerly a Gardens Adviser to the National Trust, he edits The Royal Horticultural Society's annual Plant Finder, and lectures on plants, gardens and garden history. His books include Best Borders, winner of the Garden Writers' Guild 'Book of the Year' award for 1994, Gardening at Sissinghurst, and Designing with Roses.
Daphne Ledward

Daphne Ledward is a profilic writer and broadcaster on all aspects of gardening. She started her gardening career with BBC Radio Lincolnshire and has been a regular panellist on BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time and Classic FM's Gardening Forum for 18 months. She has also appeared on television programmes such as Gardeners' Direct Line (BBC 1), By Day (Sky 1), Homes and Gardens Livetime (Granada Breeze), Grass Roots (Meridian) and How Does Your Garden Grow? (UK Style/BBC 2), and was the gardening 'expert' on Radio 2's Jimmy Young Show.
Andrew Lawson

Andrew Lawson, photographer, was a major contributor to Highgrove, Portrait of an Estate by HRH The Prince of Wales, and as author and photographer has published Performance Plants, and The Gardener's Book of Colour. In 1999 he was named 'Garden Photographer of the Year' by the Garden Writers' Guild. Andrew Lawson lives in Oxfordshire.
Carol Klein

Best-known as co-presenter of BBC TV's "Gardeners' World", Carol Klein is an internationally renowned gardener. Marchester-born Carol moved to Devon in the late 1970s with her two daughters. She started propagating plants because she couldn't afford to buy the ones she wanted for her own garden. Friends suggested she sell the spares, so Carol opened a stall in the local market, and eventually she opened her own nursery which is now a thriving business. Carol has designed four commercial show gardens at Chelsea, won five Cheslsea gold medals. Carol has presented several gardening shows since her television debut on Gardeners' World in 1989, including Garden Party, Wild About the Garden and Real Gardens. Carol also writes regularly for Gardeners World magazine, House & Garden and is a frequent contributor to the Daily Telegraph Gardening section.
Matt James

Matt James is a garden designer, broadcaster and senior lecturer teaching on horticulture degree programmes at the Eden Project, Cornwall, where he also manages a respected HND in Garden & Landscape Design. Channel 4's The City Gardener introduced Matt to the gardening public; the series was later broadcast around the globe. Two series about urban garden design in the US soon followed. Matt continues to make regular appearances on television and radio, including BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time. Matt's previous four books include RHS The Urban Gardener (Mitchell Beazley), and he has also written widely for many publications in garden design and gardening. Matt has won awards for his design work and continues to run a design practice based in Cornwall, working in the UK and abroad.
Terry Hewitt

The late Terry Hewitt grew cacti and succulents for more than 40 years. He owned and ran the Holly Gate Cactus Nursery and Holly Gate Cactus Garden in Ashington, West Sussex.
