Created by a team of childcare specialists, this book is the essential guide to rearing babies and young toddlers.

Today, paediatric care is the concern of many different specialists, including neonatal physicians, paediatricians, nutritionists, breastfeeding technicians, child behaviourists and psychotherapists. Your Babycare Bible makes all their expertise and more available in a single volume.

Among other special features, it provides a month-by-month guide to how a baby develops, special fold-out basic babycare and first-aid procedure pages, in-depth and up-to-date information on recognising and treating common childhood complaints and coping with emergencies, advice on the activities, toys and attitudes that will develop your baby's abilities and the latest recommendations for feeding, immunising, travelling with and safeguarding your child.

Given that new parents' available time is limited, this book is designed to enable them to readily find out what they need to know and to present the advice in a form that can be quickly, accurately and effectively followed.

Paper Poetry

Helene Bendix, Simone Bendix
Authors:
Helene Bendix, Simone Bendix

In a world of screens and smartphones, there is something beautifully tangible and tactile about taking a piece of paper and cutting into it with a pair of scissors. With just a few folds and snips, an old shopping list can be transformed into a fluttering butterfly or a shooting star. Let your imagination run wild and bring fairy tales to life as you turn old books into hot air balloons and angels, or give new life to yesterday's newspaper as a garland of pretty hearts.Twins Helene and Simone have been papercutting for years, and between them have created a whole world of whimsical designs. In this delightful book, they share this magical skill with you - and the best part is, it's simple, creative and practically free. All you need is a pair of scissors and some scrap paper - no scalpel, no cutting mat, no complicated templates. With beautiful photography by Ben Nason, Helene and Simone's mindful approach embraces imperfection and opens up your creativity, helping you develop your own designs and ideas. Whether you want to cut a bouquet of flowers from old shopping receipts or transform discarded wrapping paper into Christmas decorations, this book is sure to delight and inspire.

The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober

Catherine Gray
Authors:
Catherine Gray

THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER 'Fascinating' - Bryony Gordon 'Not remotely preachy' - The Times 'Jaunty, shrewd and convincing' - Sunday Telegraph 'Admirably honest, light, bubbly and remarkably rarely annoying.' - Alice O'Keeffe, Guardian 'Truthful, modern and real' - Stylist 'Brave, witty and brilliantly written' - Marie Claire Ever sworn off alcohol for a month and found yourself drinking by the 7th? Think there's 'no point' in just one drink? Welcome! There are millions of us. 64% of Brits want to drink less.Catherine Gray was stuck in a hellish whirligig of Drink, Make horrible decisions, Hangover, Repeat. She had her fair share of 'drunk tank' jail cells and topless-in-a-hot-tub misadventures. But this book goes beyond the binges and blackouts to deep-dive into uncharted territory: What happens after you quit drinking? This gripping, heart-breaking and witty book takes us down the rabbit-hole of an alternative reality. A life with zero hangovers, through sober weddings, sex, Christmases and breakups. In The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober, Catherine Gray shines a light on society's drink-pushing and talks to top neuroscientists and psychologists about why we drink, delving into the science behind what it does to our brains and bodies.Much more than a tale from the netherworld of addicted drinking, this book is about the escape, and why a sober life can be more intoxicating than you ever imagined. Whether you're a hopelessly devoted drinker, merely sober-curious, or you've already ditched the drink, you will love this book. 'Haunting, admirable and enlightening' - The Pool 'A riveting, raw, yet humorous memoir with actionable advice. A truly unique blend of storytelling and science that holds a universe of hope.' - Annie Grace, author of This Naked Mind 'Like listening to your best friend teach you to be sober. Lighthearted but serious, it's packed with ideas, tools, tips and, most importantly, reasons for living a sober life. This book is excellent.'- Eric Zimmer, host of podcast The One You Feed 'Gray's fizzy writing succeeds in making this potentially boring-as-hell subject both engaging and highly seductive' - The Bookseller 'Catherine Gray is an exceptional writer. Her exquisitely crafted thoughts on the joys of being sober are not only deeply honest and pragmatic, but she manages to infuse tons of humor. This is a delightful, informative, and compelling read for all those who are sober or seeking sobriety.' - Sasha Tozzi, Huffington Post columnist 'Catherine's writing style and voice captivate me. She has a way of translating her story into an experience I don't want to end. I want to drink every drop she produces.' - Holly Whitaker, founder of Hip Sobriety School and co-presenter of Home podcast 'This book is great. A balanced, informative and entertaining mélange of memoir, sociology and psychology. I identified very strongly with huge sections of it.' - Jon Stewart, guitarist of Sleeper and Leaving AA, Staying Sober blogger > 'Sober is too often equated with "sombre" in our culture. Gray's book turns that idea on its head. Her experience of sobriety is joyful and life-affirming. A must-read for anyone who has a nagging suspicion that alcohol may be taking away more than it's giving.' - Hilda Burke, psychotherapist and couples counsellor 'Catherine Gray really captures the FUN we can have in sobriety. This book challenges the status quo; sobriet sounds as liberating as taking a trip to the jungle. Fun and inspirational. What an important book for our time! A joy to read.' - Samantha Moyo, founder of Morning Gloryville 'If you want to hit refresh on life, you need this book. Consider The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober your healthy new addiction.' - Kate Faithfull-Williams, former health editor of Grazia, co-author of The Feelgood Plan and Hey, Where Did My Day Go? blogger 'This book is a gamechanger. Everyone deserves to have Catherine hold their hand as they navigate the new world of not drinking - whether exploring alcohol-free periods or going for full-on sobriety - and this book enables just that. Wise, funny & so relatable.' - Laurie, Girl & Tonic blogger 'Catherine Gray manages to achieve what so many have struggled to do before her; bring the undeniable joys of a sober lifestyle to light in a non-preachy, honest and accessible way. I am very excited that her words have come into the world at a time that calls for so many of us to wake up and live more consciously. My heart is bursting at the thought of how many lives this book will go on to positively and profoundly affect.'- Joanne Bradford, co-author of The Inner Fix and founder of Motherheart

What Would Freud Do?

Sarah Tomley
Authors:
Sarah Tomley

What Would Freud Do? uses the key ideas of more than 80 psychological thinkers, past and present, to shine new light onto today's everyday problems. Ever wondered what a great therapist like Freud or Jung would have to say about your horrible boss, your phone-checking addiction or an occasional wish to cheat on your partner? Ever wished someone would explain why you sometimes act like an idiot just when you want to look good, or generally keep doing things you don't really want to do?From Erich Fromm on how to find Mr/Mrs Right, to Jaak Panksepp on road rage and Magda Arnold on how to deal with 'banter', these theorists have intriuging suggestions for ways to see and do things differently. Divided into five sections, including 'What am I like?', and 'Why am I acting like this?', other questions include:-'My family's a nightmare -- shall I cut them off?'-'Is my partner lying to me?'-'Why do I keep buying the same brand all the time?'-'How can I stop people unfriending me on social media?'-'Why do I lie when she says "Does my bum look big in this?"'With Sarah Tomley's enlightening commentary throughout, this book provides the answers to the most deep and meaningful (or, indeed, shallow and meaningless) questions that you have ever pondered. A pocket guide to facing the hurdles and obstacles of life, with the advice of all the greatest psychologists at your fingertips.

Radiant - Eat Your Way to Healthy Skin

Hanna Sillitoe
Authors:
Hanna Sillitoe

For more than 20 years, Hanna Sillitoe suffered from severe psoriasis, eczema and acne. They dominated her life and shattered her confidence. At times she even resorted to wrapping her skin in clingfilm to stop her clothes rubbing against her raw skin. When her doctor told her the only remaining treatment was chemotherapy, she started researching diet and skin, and ultimately changed her life, cutting out caffeine, alcohol, sugar, dairy and wheat, with dramatic results. Now free from all skin complaints, Hanna is sharing her methods. Beginning with a juice cleanse, Hanna's plan then moves on to a range of delicious, skin-loving meals including Turmeric and Ginger Chia Pudding, Immunity Ramen, Beet Burgers and even Clean Tiramisu. There is also a selection of homemade beauty products such as Avocado and Honey Facemask and Rosemary and Lemon Salt Scrub. Uplifting and inspiring for those who have been searching for an answer to their skin woes, Hanna's programme is also suitable for people without specific complaints who just want to improve their overall health and complexion. A recipe for good health and clear skin, from the inside out.

The Turnip Prize: A Retrospective

Trevor Prideaux, Royston Weeksz OBE, FRSA
Authors:
Trevor Prideaux, Royston Weeksz OBE, FRSA

The Turnip Prize is a spoof UK art award satirising the less well known Turner Prize. Originally inspired by Tracey Emin's 1999 Turner Prize-shortlisted 'My Bed', the Turnip Prize aims to celebrate the best of the worst of contemporary art. Every year, locals send in their least inventive creations to the judges in the village of Wedmore in Somerset, who then have the dubious honour of choosing the winner. From "Poo Tin' (a tin filled with poo, topped by am image of Vladimir Putin), to "Ewe Kip" (a toy sheep having a nap), the Turnip Prize pays particular attention to the quality of the art's punning title, and to evidence of a 'considerable lack of effort'. The winner is awarded a turnip impaled on a rusty six-inch nail.Including 40 images of entries from throughout the prize's not-so-illustrious history, The Turnip Prize: A Retrospective features pontificating critical analysis of each piece by Royston Weekz, FRSA, along with insightful comments from the competition judges (such as, 'Complete b*ll*cks'). The ultimate gift for art-lovers and art-establishment sceptics alike.
