What might this do for our body, our mind and our relationships? One everyday activity at a time, artists, designers, writers, psychologists and speakers share their stories and experiences of the everyday. You will hear of family bonding over the washing up, wondrous rituals with a cup of tea and the creation of playful households. So, yes, we are suggesting that washing up can be good for you. In fact, even more than good for you! It can be liberating, relaxing, creative and healing. These ideas are deeply embedded in some of the world's most ancient wisdom. Walking in the Rain

Getting lost and feeling found...'I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.' - John Muir, John of the MountainsWalking is medicine for the mind. It helps us slow down and think things through. It also helps us perk up and generate new ideas. There are few activities as readily available and revitalizing as a brisk walk, or as soothing and stimulating as a long walk. Wonderful things can happen when we set out on two feet.Within these pages, you will find stories from artists, designers, writers, psychologists and speakers who are inspired by the effect of pacing outdoors. You will hear of walks in the city, hikes through woods at dawn and epic adventures involving long journeys on foot. No matter the scale of the tale, the writer offers lessons they learned of a simple, human nature that we can all understand. In each chapter you will discover suggestions and ideas about how to create simple daily habits from the writer's thinking. In a world where so much of the noise around us suggests we are not good enough as we are, and that we must seek to change, these accounts try to do something different. They aim instead to invite a stroll into the complex pathways of the mind to discover the beauty of our own quirky individuality.

Lucy Whigham
Authors:
Lucy Whigham

Written by a specialist gut dietitian, Lucy Whigham, M Nutr Diet SRD, The Low-FODMAP Recipe Book can help you to take control of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), functional bowel disorder and digestive distress, and can also help those suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Coeliac Disease and functional symptoms following gastrointestinal surgery. FODMAPs (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Di-saccharides, Mono-saccharides and Polyols) are naturally occurring sugars that are found in a wide range of everyday foods. They are difficult to digest and cannot be completely absorbed by the body - instead they are fermented by bacteria in our gut, causing excessive wind, bloating, pain, abdominal distension, cramping, stomach gurglings, diarrhoea and frequent bowel motions. The low-FODMAP diet: Is the most successful diet for bringing relief to sufferers of IBS. Has been medically proven in rigorous clinical trials to help identify food intolerances and improve symptoms in up to 75 per cent of people with IBS. Is quickly becoming an essential treatment for people with a sensitive gut. Can help in the management of a wide range of stomach troubles and gastrointestinal discomfort. This book is an easy guide to why and how the low-FODMAP diet can help, and includes tables of what foods need to be avoided for the elimination phase and beyond. Holly Farrell
Authors:
Holly Farrell

Gardening, like mindfulness, is a way of finding a sense of calm in an otherwise chaotic world, a simpler existence, even if it is only for a few minutes. Both forge a connection to the world around us, to nature and wildlife, which can bring pleasure and peace. In this beautifully illustrated guide to gardening for mindfulness, horticulturalist and mindfulness practitioner Holly Farrell provides a blueprint for a more contemplative way to garden, including projects, meditations and inspiration.Projects for the mindful gardener, including growing something from seed, planting a tree and creating a mandala, put the theory of mindfulness into practice, while plant lists and design ideas aim to enhance mindfulness in the garden through the senses. Beautifully packaged and easy to follow, this is the perfect book for keen gardeners, devotees of mindfulness, or simply those looking for calm in a busy and hectic world.
