Biographical Notes

Master Patissier and twice winner of the prestigious Continental Patissier of the Year at the British Baking Awards, Eric Lanlard has earned himself an international reputation for superlative baked creations for an impressive A-list clientele, including Madonna and Sir Elton John. Having trained in France, Eric moved to London where he ran the patisserie business for Albert and Michel Roux. He stayed there for five years before launching his own business, Cake Boy, a destination cafe, cake emporium and cookery school based in London.

Eric is an experienced TV presenter, most recently with Channel 4's Baking Mad with Eric Lanlard. He has appeared on numerous TV food shows including Masterchef: The Professionals, Mary Queen of Shops, The Taste, Great British Bake Off and Junior Bake Off.

He is co-author of Cox Cookies and Cake (Mitchell Beazley) and author of Master Cakes (Hamlyn), Home Bake, Tart It Up! and Chocolat (Mitchell Beazley).

Annabel Rivkin and Emilie McMeekan founded The Midult in 2016. They are journalists, worriers and incredibly good friends. Annabel has written for everybody from The Times to Vogue, while Emilie has been Features Editor of the Evening Standard and Deputy Editor of Tatler. Together they write a Midult column in the Saturday Telegraph Magazine and Annabel has a column in the Evening Standard's ES Magazine. Emilie is sunshine, Annabel is brimstone and together they wrote this book, lying on the floor a lot and stroking their beards.

Annie Bell, having begun her career as a chef, has been a full-time cookery writer and author for more than ten years. She has written a number of books including Annie Bell's Vegetable Book, and Evergreen shortlisted for the Andre Simon and Glenfiddich Awards. Chantal's passion for cooking was ignited when, as a teenager, she was diagnosed as allergic to dairy, eggs and wheat. She believes everyone should take joy and satisfaction from food and so she specializes in freefrom cooking. Chantal has worked as a personal chef, caterer, restaurateur and in food product development. She is also a champion barbecuer, and has won several competitions including Jamie Oliver's 'Big Feastival'.

Charlie Burton

Charlie Burton is a journalist based in London. As Senior Commissioning Editor of GQ he writes everything from celebrity profiles to political opinion. In 2015, he started the magazine's monthly how-to column, 'Bring Your "A" Game', which inspired this book. He is a graduate of Lincoln College, Oxford, and was formerly the Associate Editor of Wired.

Chetna Makan

Chetna Makan was born in Jabalpur, an ancient city in central India. She has a degree in fashion and worked in Mumbai as a fashion designer before moving to the UK in 2003. Chetna reached the semi-final of The Great British Bake Off in 2014, and her first book, The Cardamom Trail, is a celebration of baking with Indian flavours. She has a very popular YouTube channel 'Food with Chetna' where she shares her creative flair for food.

Chloe Fox

Chloe Fox is a contributing editor to Vogue, where she spent three years working on the Features desk. Over the years, she has interviewed a number of its cover stars, including Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley and Helena Bonham Carter. She is also the author of two of the biographies in the hugely popular Vogue On Series - Vogue On Alexander McQueen and Vogue On Manolo Blahnik.
