Here's One I Made Earlier

Blue Peter is the longest-running children's programme in the world. At its peak, before the days of streaming andsocial media, it notched up 8 million viewers an episode and received a thousand letters a day. Recently voted the UK's best children's TV programme of all time, it was - and remains - famous for its makes, all of which used inexpensive household items such as cereal boxes and squeezy bottles, as well as the essential sticky-backed plastic and rubber solution glue. This affectionate celebration of the favourite makes from the show, has facsmiles from the Blue Peter annuals and includes the iconic Advent Crown, made with wire coat hangers, tinsel and candles. A Christmas Door Decoration, made from a polystyrene ceiling tile, some more tinsel and a cake doiley. A Luxury Cat Basket, made from a washingup bowl. Plant Pots using old margarine tubs. A Doll's House made from a shoebox (with furniture made from matchboxes). Plus, of course, the instructions for the Blue Peter version of Thunderbirds Tracy Island.

Shelfie

Martha Roberts
Authors:
Martha Roberts

A decorating trend and social media phenomenon, 'the shelfie' originally emerged in response to the clutter-clearing movement. What started as a label for beautiful bookshelves is now applied to artfully stylish arrangements of collectables, flowers, photos, crafting ephemera, perfume bottles - and of course books. And shelfies don't just appear on shelves, but also on desks, worktops and fireplaces.De-cluttering, and then curating our favourite possessions stylishly, is a great way to bring personality into the home and workspace. In the first book on the shelfie, Martha Roberts shows you how to source, sort and arrange your belongings for every room in the house. Photography by Nick Pope, who took the photographs for At Home with Plants, also published by Mitchell Beazley.'While most of us are just beginning to get to grips with the selfie, the 'shelfie' movement has been gaining digital ground. The self-obsessed are becoming the 'shelf-obsessed.' - Talib Choudry, the Telegraph

Levant

Rawia Bishara, Jumana Bishara, Rawia Bishara
Authors:
Rawia Bishara, Jumana Bishara, Rawia Bishara

She believes one of the greatest assets of Middle Eastern cuisine is its inherent fluidity, its remarkable capacity to adapt and transform over time. In Levant, she offers more than 100 recipes that represent a new modern style. These are the very best of the dishes she has developed over the last twenty years in her New York City restaurant for the contemporary palate. Relying on a traditional pantry (including olive oil, tahini, za'atar, sumac), she updates classic flavour profiles to dazzling effect. The Mediterranean diet has always been a healthy one, with so many of what we now call `superfoods' at its base. But here Rawia takes it a step further by focusing on dishes that are naturally vegetarian or vegan and gluten-free, as well as meat dishes where vegetables take the leading role. These recipes represent the way more and more people eat and cook today. Among them are Cauliflower `Steak' with Pomegranate Molasses, Roasted Beetroot Hummus, Jerusalem Artichoke and Beef Stew, Peppers with Walnut Stuffing and Freekeh and Butternut Squash Salad. Levant explores the sensational cross-cultural possibilities of culinary exchange; it sets the path for the future of Middle Eastern cooking.
