Tradescant's Diary, a column of garden jottings, first appeared in the RHS magazine, The Garden, in June 1975. Hugh Johnson was its author (in addition to his being Editorial Director of the magazine) and it became a monthly fixture for the RHS's committed gardeners. Hugh's writings are filled with an eclectic mixture of topical, whimsical and humorous anecdotes and are organised to follow a gardener's monthly calendar. Under the name Tradescant's Diary, a name taken from John Tradescant, gardener to Lord Cecil at Hatfield House and to King James I, who was one of the first men to introduce plants from foreign countries to his own garden, Hugh's writings appeared in The Garden from 1975-2006, in Gardens Illustrated in 2007, and in 2008 still appear as monthly blogs through his own website (www.tradsdiary.com).

Dave Broom

Award-winning author and whisky expert Dave Broom has been writing about whisky for 25 years as a journalist and author. He has also won the Glenfiddich Award for Drinks Writer of the Year twice and recently won the extremely prestigious IWSC Communicator of the Year Award. David T. Smith

David T. Smith is an internationally renowned gin expert, judge and author. He chairs judging panels for the American Distilling Institute and the International Wine and Sprits Competition, as well as the Gin Masters competition. He is the winner of the 2016 Think Gin award for best communicator, and runs workshops on the art of distilling, as well as the drinks website Summer Fruit Cup.

François Monti

François Monti is a journalist specialising in drinks and cocktails, based in Madrid. He is the author of a number of books, including Prohibitions, and writes a highly regarded blog, Bottoms Up.

Hugh Johnson

Hugh Johnson is the world's pre-eminent writer on wine. First published in 1977, his Pocket Wine Book sells hundreds of thousands of copies a year. His winning formula of insight, critical appraisal of the world of wine, plus valuable vintage news and wine recommendations has been often-imitated but never bettered. With the publication of his first book, Wine, Johnson established himself at the age of twenty-seven as the most refreshing and authoritative voice on the subject. Jancis Robinson MW is internationally renowned for her witty, authoritative wine writing and her books The World Atlas of Wine and The Oxford Companion to Wine are among the most important in wine literature. She is acclaimed as 'awesomely intelligent' (Guardian) and 'a writer of breathtaking clarity' (The Spectator). With www.JancisRobinson.com (subscribers in nearly 100 countries) and her flock of Twitter followers, she is something of an online pioneer as a wine communicator. She makes frequent visits to the USA to stay ahead of the crowd and, in the early 1980s, was the first British journalist to take a serious interest in American wine.

John Vincent

John is co-founder of Leon, which now has more than 45 restaurants (including one in Amsterdam). He wrote Leon Naturally Fast Food with Henry Dimbleby, Leon Family & Friends with Kay Plunkett-Hogge, Leon Happy Salads and Leon Fast & Free with Jane Baxter and Leon Happy Soups with Rebecca Seal. He believes food has the power to delight, invigorate and bring people together. He thinks that our relationship with food should be positive and joyous and that we need to listen more carefully to our gut, eat more good fats, less sugar. And a whole lot more plants.

Kay Plunkett-Hogge

Kay Plunkett-Hogge is an acclaimed food and drinks writer, and the author of Aperitivo (Mitchell Beazley, 2017), Adventures Of A Terribly Greedy Girl (Mitchell Beazley, 2017), A Sherry & A Little Plate Of Tapas (Mitchell Beazley, 2016), Heat: Cooking With Chillies (Quercus, 2016) and Make Mine A Martini (Mitchell Beazley, 2014).In addition to her own books, Kay has co-authored a further six books, working with the award-winning chef Bryn Williams on his two books Bryn's Kitchen and For The Love Of Veg, Academy Award nominated actor Stanley Tucci on his second cookbook The Tucci Table, and with the American pizza guru Chris Bianco. Neil Beckett

Neil Beckett's interest in wine stretches back for many years, so much so that his MBA dissertation was on White Burgundy. He has spent time in Burgundy, and has also qualified for the WSET Diploma, graduating with distinction. As well as working for wine shipping company Richards Walford, he has also worked at Harpers Wine & Spirit Weekly where he was a contributing editor for many years and in 2004 became the first editor of the critically-acclaimed, leading wine magazine, The World of Wine, on which he works with Hugh Johnson and Andrew Jefford. He is one of two UK tasters on the Grand Jury Européen du vin and his wine writing has won prizes.

Peter Liem

Peter Liem is an American wine writer and the author of ChampagneGuide.net. Following nearly a decade in the wine trade, he was a senior editor, critic, and tasting director for Wine & Spirits, and his writings on sherry, Champagne, and other wines have appeared in publications such as The World of Fine Wine, The Art of Eating, Decanter and the San Francisco Chronicle. He lives in Champagne.

Richard H. Turner

Selin Kiazim

Selin Kiazim developed her love of cooking at an early age, and her food takes inspiration from her Turkish-Cypriot heritage, focused around communal eating. Tim Webb

Tim Webb began writing about better types of beer when most of what could be said had to be reported in the past tense. During six years on the board of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) he ran Britain's national beer festival and co-founded CAMRA's publishing company.
