Angel Adoree

Angel Adoree is the founder of The Vintage Patisserie, a popular vintage hosting company offering bespoke tea parties from a bygone era. Delivering music, makeovers and - of course - a customised menu of tea party treats that elevate any function into a swanky soiree. It has created unforgettable tea parties for famous clients including Paul Smith CBE, Myleene Klass, and Kim Jones to name but a few!Angel was the outstanding character on BBC Two's series 'Dragons' Den'. She has grown up with great determination, a skill for creativity and has taught herself strong business acumen - she ticked all the boxes with the dragons and became the face of the series. Angel's eye for beautiful things started at a young age, and by the age of thirteen she was buying vintage clothes and gems. A market stall followed and when the stall couldn't quell the tide of treasure, Angel moved to a big converted school house in Bethnal Green. It was here in 2001 that the launch of 'The Vintage Experience' took place, where Angel opened her doors to her devotees and revealed rail upon rail of vintage delights, and offered advice and hand-picked gems that were just right for her clients - as well as providing them with delicious cakes! The Vintage Experience lasted for seven years and when this brand could grow no more, the Vintage Patisserie was born! Angel's business has grown from strength to strength and this year saw the opening for her new East London event space, Vintage Hair Academy and Vintage Hospitality school.Angel's first book The Vintage Tea Party Book was shortlisted for the Galaxy National Book Awards 2011 for Food Book of the Year.

Camilla Stephens

Camilla Stephens trained at Leiths School of Food & Wine. She worked for several years as a food writer and editor before becoming head of development for Starbucks, expanding their food range. She co-founded Higgidy in 2003, following her philosophy of nourishing home cooking and shared mealtimes. In Camilla's own words: 'Food brings colour to our lives - it nourishes, comforts and sustains. But above all, it brings people together.'

Charlie Burton

Charlie Burton is a journalist based in London. As Senior Commissioning Editor of GQ he writes everything from celebrity profiles to political opinion. In 2015, he started the magazine's monthly how-to column, 'Bring Your "A" Game', which inspired this book. He is a graduate of Lincoln College, Oxford, and was formerly the Associate Editor of Wired.

Dave Broom

Award-winning author and whisky expert Dave Broom has been writing about whisky for 25 years as a journalist and author. He has written eight books, two of which (Drink! and Rum) won the Glenfiddich Award for Drinks Book of the Year. He has also won the Glenfiddich Award for Drinks Writer of the Year twice and recently won the extremely prestigious IWSC Communicator of the Year Award. In 2015 Tales of the Cocktail presented Dave with the Best Cocktail & Spirits award, soon to be followed by the Golden Spirit Award in 2016.Over his two decades in the field, Dave has built up a considerable international following with regular training/educational visits to France, Holland, Germany, the USA and Japan. His remit has covered consumer features as well as business reports. He is also actively involved in whisky education, acting as a consultant to major distillers on tasting techniques as well as teaching professionals and the public. He was also one of the developers of Diageo's generic whisky tasting tool, the Flavour MapT.

Dominic Roskrow

Dominic Roskrow is the former editor of Whisky Magazine, The Spirits Business and Whiskeria. He has written eight books on whisky including The World's Best Whiskies, 1001 Whiskies You Must Taste Before You Die and The Whisky Opus, and has contributed to several more, including every edition of The Whisky Yearbook. He specializes in world whisky, and he has had work published in newspapers and magazines across the world including Drinks International, Harpers Wine & Spirits Trade News, Whisky Advocate, The Times, The Sunday Times, the Daily Telegraph and the Wall Street Journal. He has been made a Kentucky Colonel and a Keeper of The Quaich for his contributions to bourbon and Scotch whisky respectively, and he was named the 2015 Fortnum & Mason Drinks Writer of the Year.

Dr Robert A Emmons PhD

Robert A Emmons, PhD is Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Davis, where he has taught since 1988.He received his PhD degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is the author of nearly 200 original publications in peer-reviewed journals or chapters and has written or edited five books, including The Psychology of Ultimate Concerns (Guilford Press), The Psychology of Gratitude (Oxford University Press), Thanks! How Practicing Gratitude Can Make You Happier (Houghton-Mifflin) and Gratitude Works! A Twenty-One Day Program for Creating Emotional Prosperity (Jossey-Bass).A leader in the positive psychology movement, Dr Emmons is founding editor and editor-in-chief of The Journal of Positive Psychology.He is Past-President of the American Psychological Association's Division 36, The Psychology of Religion. His research focuses on the psychology of gratitude and thankfulness in both adults and youth, and how they are related to human flourishing. His interests also include the psychology and spirituality of joy and grace as they relate to human flourishing.Dr Emmons has received research funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, the John M Templeton Foundation, and the National Institute for Disability Research and Rehabilitation. His research has been featured in dozens of popular media outlets including the New York Times, USA Today, US News and World Report, Newsweek, Time, NPR, PBS, and The Wall Street Journal.

Ian Birch

Ian Birch is former Editorial Director of Hearst UK and Emap. He began his magazine career in the late 1970s as a reporter for Melody Maker, before moving to Smash Hits, where he was assistant editor for three years from 1984. His first launch and editorship came in the late 1980s with Sky magazine. At Hearst UK he oversaw brands like Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Harper's Bazaar, Men's Health and Good Housekeeping.Prior to working at Hearst, Birch was chief content officer at TV Guide in New York for four years; and before this he was editorial director at Emap for more than 10 years, where he helped to launch Red, Closer, Grazia and re-launch Heat.

James Hoffmann

James Hoffmann is the managing director of Square Mile Coffee Roasters, a multi-award-winning coffee roasting company based in East London. He is also the World Barista Champion 2007, having won the UK Barista competition in both 2006 and 2007. He writes a popular blog, www.jimseven.com, about coffee and the coffee business. The World Atlas of Coffee is his first book.

John Fisher

The late John Fisher was a full-time professional canine behaviourist with a practice in Surrey and a referral clinic in London. He lectured on canine behaviour at the Canine Studies Institute, and was consulted by many official bodies and veterinarians on dog behavioural problems. He was also a founder member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Consultants.

John Vincent

John is co-founder of Leon, which now has more than 55 restaurants (including restaurants in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Oslo and Washington DC). He wrote LEON Naturally Fast Food with Henry Dimbleby, LEON Family & Friends with Kay Plunkett-Hogge, LEON Happy Salads and LEON Fast & Free with Jane Baxter and LEON Happy Soups with Rebecca Seal. He believes food has the power to delight, invigorate and bring people together. He thinks that our relationship with food should be positive and joyous and that we need to listen more carefully to our gut, eat more good fats, less sugar. And a whole lot more plants.

Judith Miller

Judith Miller began collecting in the 1960s while a student at Edinburgh University in Scotland. She has since extended and reinforced her knowledge of antiques through international research, becoming one of the world's leading experts in the field. In 1979 she co-founded the international best-seller Miller's Antiques Price Guide and has since written more than 100 books which are held in high regard by collectors and dealers.Judith Miller appears regularly on TV and radio. She is an expert on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow and has co-hosted the popular BBC series The House Detectives, ITV's Antiques Trail, and Discovery's It's Your Bid. She has appeared on The Martha Stewart Show and CNN. She is a regular lecturer and contributor to numerous newspapers and magazines, including the Financial Times, the Daily Telegraph, BBC Homes & Antiques and House & Garden. She has lectured extensively, including at the V&A in London and the Smithsonian in Washington.

Kay Plunkett-Hogge

Kay Plunkett-Hogge is an acclaimed food and drinks writer, and the author of Aperitivo (Mitchell Beazley, 2017), Adventures Of A Terribly Greedy Girl (Mitchell Beazley, 2017), A Sherry & A Little Plate Of Tapas (Mitchell Beazley, 2016), Heat: Cooking With Chillies (Quercus, 2016) and Make Mine A Martini (Mitchell Beazley, 2014).In addition to her own books, Kay has co-authored a further six books, working with the award-winning chef Bryn Williams on his two books Bryn's Kitchen and For The Love Of Veg, Academy Award nominated actor Stanley Tucci on his second cookbook The Tucci Table, and with the American pizza guru Chris Bianco. She also co-wrote Leon: Family and Friends with John Vincent and Cook Yourself Thin: Quick and Easy.Born and brought up in 1970s Bangkok, Kay spent her childhood between two kitchens - inside for Western food, outside for Thai - before forging an international career in the film and fashion industries. Michael Freeman

Michael Freeman, professional photographer and best-selling author, was born in England in 1945, took a Masters in Geography at Brasenose College, Oxford University, and then worked in advertising in London for six years. In 1971 he made the life-changing decision to travel up the Amazon with two secondhand cameras, and when Time-Life used many of the pictures he came back with, he embarked on a full-time photographic career.Since then, working for clients that include all the world's major magazines, most notably the Smithsonian Magazine (for which he has shot more than 40 stories over 30 years), Freeman's reputation as one of the world's leading reportage photographers has been consolidated. Of his many books, which have sold over 4 million copies worldwide, more than 60 titles are on the practice of photography. For this photographic educational work he was awarded the Prix Louis Philippe Clerc by the French Ministry of Culture.Freeman's books on photography have been translated into 27 languages.

Neil Beckett

Neil Beckett's interest in wine stretches back for many years, so much so that his MBA dissertation was on White Burgundy. He has spent time in Burgundy, and has also qualified for the WSET Diploma, graduating with distinction. As well as working for wine shipping company Richards Walford, he has also worked at Harpers Wine & Spirit Weekly where he was a contributing editor for many years and in 2004 became the first editor of the critically-acclaimed, leading wine magazine, The World of Wine, on which he works with Hugh Johnson and Andrew Jefford. He is one of two UK tasters on the Grand Jury Européen du vin and his wine writing has won prizes.

Rebecca Seal

Rebecca has written about food and drink for the Financial Times, Evening Standard, the Observer, the Guardian, Red and The Sunday Times. Her cookbooks include Istanbul: Recipes from the heart of Turkey and Lisbon: Recipes from the heart of Portugal, as well as LEON Happy Soups and LEON Happy One-pot, both of which she co-authored with John Vincent. She is one of the food and drink experts on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch. She believes that with the right skills, and just a bit of knowledge, everyone can eat well and hopes that her writing goes a little way towards helping that happen. She lives in London with her husband and two small daughters.

Robert Arp

Robert Arp is Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Maple Woods College and Johnson County Community College, in the Kansas City area. He has attained a PhD in Philosophy from Saint Louis University, and specializes in the philosophy of biology, the philosophy of mind, and modern philosophy. A member of The American Philosophical Association and The Philosophy of Science Association, Robert Arp has written numerous articles, book chapters, and books, and is the editor of South Park and Philosophy (Blackwell Publishing, 2006), the co-editor of Contemporary Debates in Philosophy of Biology (Wiley-Blackwell, 2009), and the author of An Integrated Approach to the Philosophy of Mind (Cambridge University Press, 2010).
