Obviously deep down he is yearning to say "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot" to the computer and be rewarded with the perfect refreshment, but for now he's putting his experience into identifying which of the tidal wave of "smart" gadgets are worth having by living the smart home dream in suburban London.

Dr Alexandra Loske is an art historian, editor, and curator at The Royal Pavilion and Brighton Museums.

Alissa Timoshkina

Alissa is a chef, curator and supper club host. She came to the UK in 1999 from Russia to study and never looked back. Gaining a PhD in film history, Alissa lectured and published on the subject of Russian and European cinemas, and also worked as curator and coordinator of film festivals in London. However, her passion for cooking and hosting dinner parties, gradually turned into an obsession and Alissa left her job to launch a new project: a cinema-supper club called KinoVino, which offers film screenings and sit-down dinners with unique menus inspired by the films. Since its launch in May 2015, KinoVino has established a reputation as one of London's most original projects, redefining the local food and film scene. Alissa has also launched a private events branch of KinoVino, organising product launches and private gatherings. She regularly holds food popups and supper clubs where she explores the cuisine of the former Soviet Union. Anna Cryer

Anna Cryer is an editor who has worked at British Vogue, Tatler and Harper's Bazaar in London and New York. She was at Vogue on three separate occasions, as the magazine celebrated its 75th, 90th and 100th anniversaries. Her childhood nickname 'Pants on Fire' seems prescient given the subject of this, her first book. She lives in London.

Annie Bell

Annie Bell, having begun her career as a chef, has been a full-time cookery writer and author for more than ten years. She has written a number of books including Annie Bell's Vegetable Book, and Evergreen shortlisted for the Andre Simon and Glenfiddich Awards. She collaborated with the architect John Pawson to write Living and Eating and more recently has written Gorgeous Cakes. She spent several years as Cookery Writer at Vogue, then as Food Writer on the Independent, she is currently the Cookery Writer on YOU Magazine in the Mail on Sunday and also contributes to Country Living and Waitrose Food Illustrated. Annie is married to landscape architect Jonathan Bell, and they have two sons Rothko and Louis. She divides her time between London and her seventeenth-century farmhouse in Normandy.

Bev Speight

Bev Speight is an artist, illustrator, designer and educator who teaches at Middlesex University. She was previously creative director for a major book publisher and, amongst many other clients, has worked extensively on high profile campaigns for the BBC.

After coming second in BBC's Masterchef Goes Large in 2006, Dean Edwards sought to change his life radically by leaving his career as a digger driver to pursue his love of cooking and food.Dean's likeable persona and family-friendly cooking style has made him a firm favourite on ITV's Lorraine since 2010, but he originally made his ITV debut on This Morning in September 2009, where he featured in a weekly cookery slot, creating dishes for the ITV audience.
