Michael Powell

Michael Powell studied English Language and Literature at Manchester University before spending three years at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, training to be an actor. He then spent five years as an internationally unknown professional actor and musical director. In 1996, Michael entered publishing and became assistant editor at BCA for two years. Olia Hercules

Olia Hercules was born in Ukraine and lived in Cyprus for 5 years before moving to London to study a BA in Italian language, followed by an MA in Russian and English. Peter Liem is an American wine writer and the author of ChampagneGuide.net. Following nearly a decade in the wine trade, he was a senior editor, critic, and tasting director for Wine & Spirits, and his writings on sherry, Champagne, and other wines have appeared in publications such as The World of Fine Wine, The Art of Eating, Decanter and the San Francisco Chronicle. He lives in Champagne.

Pierre Koffmann

Pierre Koffmann has been at the heart of fine cuisine in Britain for over 40 years. After working as a young chef in Strasbourg and Toulon, Koffmann arrived in London in 1970 to work under Michel and Albert Roux at Le Gavroche. In 1972 he was made the first head chef of the Roux brothers' new venture, the Waterside Inn at Bray. When Pierre opened La Tante Claire in 1977, it was the start of a residency at the top of the London culinary world that would span four decades. Within six years of opening, La Tante Claire had its third Michelin star, setting new standards for cooking and creating extraordinary dishes from classically simple ingredients, while also serving as an academy for many of today's culinary superstars. Between them his various protégés, from Marco Pierre White and Gordon Ramsay to Tom Kitchin and Jason Atherton, now boast over 20 Michelin stars in their own right. He retired in 2003, but following a sell-out of his critically hailed pop-up at Selfridges in 2009, he returned to the kitchen once more. Rebecca has written about food and drink for the Financial Times, Evening Standard, the Observer, the Guardian, Red and The Sunday Times. Her cookbooks include Istanbul: Recipes from the heart of Turkey and Lisbon: Recipes from the heart of Portugal, as well as LEON Happy Soups and LEON Happy One-pot, both of which she co-authored with John Vincent. She is one of the food and drink experts on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch. She believes that with the right skills, and just a bit of knowledge, everyone can eat well and hopes that her writing goes a little way towards helping that happen. Robert Arp is Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Maple Woods College and Johnson County Community College, in the Kansas City area. He has attained a PhD in Philosophy from Saint Louis University, and specializes in the philosophy of biology, the philosophy of mind, and modern philosophy. A member of The American Philosophical Association and The Philosophy of Science Association, Robert Arp has written numerous articles, book chapters, and books, and is the editor of South Park and Philosophy (Blackwell Publishing, 2006), the co-editor of Contemporary Debates in Philosophy of Biology (Wiley-Blackwell, 2009), and the author of An Integrated Approach to the Philosophy of Mind (Cambridge University Press, 2010).
