Abi Daker

ABI DAKER is a British illustrator who lives and works in Cyprus with her husband and son. She studied Art at the University of Reading and has since worked on children's books and as an archaeological illustrator; she also specialises in illustrated maps and architectural subjects. Andy Tuohy

Andy Tuohy is a graphic designer and worked in advertising for many years before becoming a freelance artist/ designer. He has had design work commissioned by the Tate Modern and Tate Liverpool, Turner Contemporary and Henley Regatta, and has been featured in Design Week amongst other publications.

Charlotte Farmer

Charlotte Farmer graduated from Central St Martin's in London in 2006 with an MA in Communication Design. She has been working freelance ever since, writing, drawing and designing, but mostly illustrating for a variety of clients. Her work also features on hip homeware products for New House Textiles. Her first humourous book for Ilex, The Hipster Colouring Book, was swiftly followed by The Passive-Aggressive Colouring Book, the perfect antidote to modern life.

Colin Beveridge

Colin Beveridge can't understand why maths isn't the most popular subject on the planet, and spends his life trying to make it so. After a PhD from St Andrews, he worked on NASA's Living With A Star program before returning to the UK in 2008. When he's not writing, teaching, or speaking about maths, he's looking after his young sons or running on south Dorset's excellent cycle path network.

Flora Shedden

Flora Shedden lives in Scotland, where she spends as much time as possible at her family home in Highland Perthshire. She was one of the youngest ever semi-finalists on the Great British Bake Off, impressing judges and public alike with her simple, elegant designs. Her favourite pastimes are cooking, photography and writing. She writes a regular online column for The Scotsman.

She also draws comics and her design work has been exhibited at the V&A museum. Joy Larkcom

Joy Larkcom has been growing and writing about vegetables for more than thirty years and is considered one of the world's leading experts in the field. Michael Freeman

Michael Freeman, professional photographer and best-selling author, was born in England in 1945, took a Masters in Geography at Brasenose College, Oxford University, and then worked in advertising in London for six years. Sir Patrick Moore

Sir Patrick Moore has been popularizing astronomy for 50 years and has written more than 60 books on the subject. He is the presenter of the world's longest running television series, The Sky At Night, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2007, and has been commemorated with a set of Royal Mail stamps. In 1967 he was awarded the OBE for his services to astronomy, followed in 1988 by the CBE; in 2000 he was awarded a BAFTA, then, in 2001, he received a knighthood and was made a Fellow of the Royal Society.

Terence Conran

Terence Conran is one of the world's best-known designers, restaurateurs and retailers. Tim Webb

Tim Webb began writing about better types of beer when most of what could be said had to be reported in the past tense. During six years on the board of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) he ran Britain's national beer festival and co-founded CAMRA's publishing company. He has written Good Beer Guide Belgium continuously since 1992 and has won awards for beer writing in four countries.
