Over 100 fresh and simple lactose-free recipes for healthy eating every day.

Millions of people are lactose intolerant - meaning they lack enough of the lactase enzyme to digest milk products properly. It is a common digestive problem that affects an estimated 9.5 million people in the UK alone. Others simply prefer to eliminate dairy as part of a "clean" diet.

So, what to eat? In Simply Dairy Free, Lesley Waters provides more than 100 fresh and simple lactose-free recipes for healthy eating every day. Recipes range from White Bean Creamy Hummus with Broad Bean Salad & Dukkah to Coconut Rice Pudding with Griddled Pineapple, with cheats and swaps along the way so that die-hard dairy lovers can enjoy favourite dishes they're missing.

James Wong

'James Wong brings some welcome sanity to the world of healthy eating...its genius is his advice on how to get more nutrition from fruit and veg. It's fascinating, and better than cutting out food groups or paying for so-called superfoods' - delicious. magazineSELECT a Braeburn apple over a Fuji and get almost double the antioxidants from a fruit that tastes just as sweet.STORE strawberries on the counter, instead of in the fridge, and in just four days they will quadruple their heart-healthy compounds.COOK broccoli with a teaspoon of mustard and send its levels of cancer-fighting potential skyrocketing ten-fold.Between the rush to keep up with the latest miracle ingredient, anxiety about E-numbers and demonization of gluten/dairy/sugar (or the next foodie villain du jour) many of us are left in a virtual panic in the supermarket aisle. Tabloid headlines, 'free-from' labels and judgemental Instagram hashtags hardly help matters - so what should we be buying? How to Eat Better strips away the fad diets, superfood fixations and Instagram hashtags to give you a straight-talking scientist's guide to making everyday foods far healthier (and tastier) simply by changing the way you select, store and cook them. Fress

Emma Spitzer
Authors:
Emma Spitzer

Fress (Yiddish): 'to eat copiously and without restraint' 'Fress, the knockout debut cookbook from Emma Spitzer, a 2015 finalist on Britain's 'Masterchef' show, seamlessly blends Ashkenazic and Sephardic culinary heritage ... Spitzer is a Brighton-born travel business entrepeneur who now caters and teaches cooking classes ... her voice is that of a home cook privileged to be a part of the new food world order, acknowledging her Russian roots, her mother-in-law's Israeli feasts, British celebrity chef John Torode and cookbook author Claudia Roden. There's a touch of Yotam Ottolenghi in the book's images - vegetables that look lush and savoury on the plate. Props to the styling team, who make even beef-stuffed artichokes look handsome.'The Washington PostEmma Spitzer's style of cooking is unfussy and uncomplicated, extracting the maximum flavour from the humblest of ingredients without spending hours in the kitchen. For Fress, her melting pot of inspiration embraces Poland and Russia, Jewish recipes learned from her mother, travels in Israel, Egypt, Jordan and North Africa, as well as Algerian recipes shared by her mother-in-law. Big on flavour and spice, Fress is full of happy, sociable food to feed the soul.
