Hugh Johnson

Hugh Johnson is the world's pre-eminent writer on wine. First published in 1977, his Pocket Wine Book sells hundreds of thousands of copies a year. Martyn Nail

Martyn was first inspired to cook by his grandmother and was baking his own cakes by the age of eight. He earned his catering diploma from Highbury College in 1986, top in his field with distinction. Matt James is a garden designer, broadcaster and senior lecturer teaching on horticulture degree programmes at the Eden Project, Cornwall, where he also manages a respected HND in Garden & Landscape Design. Michael Freeman, professional photographer and best-selling author, was born in England in 1945, took a Masters in Geography at Brasenose College, Oxford University, and then worked in advertising in London for six years.
