Obviously deep down he is yearning to say "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot" to the computer and be rewarded with the perfect refreshment, but for now he's putting his experience into identifying which of the tidal wave of "smart" gadgets are worth having by living the smart home dream in suburban London.

Charlie Burton

Charlie Burton is a journalist based in London. As Senior Commissioning Editor of GQ he writes everything from celebrity profiles to political opinion. In 2015, he started the magazine's monthly how-to column, 'Bring Your "A" Game', which inspired this book. He is a graduate of Lincoln College, Oxford, and was formerly the Associate Editor of Wired.

Dean Edwards

After coming second in BBC's Masterchef Goes Large in 2006, Dean Edwards sought to change his life radically by leaving his career as a digger driver to pursue his love of cooking and food.Dean's likeable persona and family-friendly cooking style has made him a firm favourite on ITV's Lorraine since 2010, but he originally made his ITV debut on This Morning in September 2009, where he featured in a weekly cookery slot, creating dishes for the ITV audience.

Dominic Roskrow

Dominic Roskrow is the former editor of Whisky Magazine, The Spirits Business and Whiskeria. He has written eight books on whisky including The World's Best Whiskies, 1001 Whiskies You Must Taste Before You Die and The Whisky Opus, and has contributed to several more, including every edition of The Whisky Yearbook. He specializes in world whisky, and he has had work published in newspapers and magazines across the world including Drinks International, Harpers Wine & Spirits Trade News, Whisky Advocate, The Times, The Sunday Times, the Daily Telegraph and the Wall Street Journal. He has been made a Kentucky Colonel and a Keeper of The Quaich for his contributions to bourbon and Scotch whisky respectively, and he was named the 2015 Fortnum & Mason Drinks Writer of the Year.

Dr Ross Bayton

Dr Ross Bayton gained a Bachelor's degree in tropical ecology, and later a Masters and a PhD, both in taxonomy. He is the co-author of RHS Genealogy for Gardeners and RHS Gardening School (both Mitchell Beazley), and worked for three years at BBC Gardeners' World Magazine.

Gregg Wallace

Gregg Wallace is co-presenter of Masterchef and renowned for his love of all things sweet and delicious. Jamie Butterworth

Jamie Butterworth is an RHS Ambassador who has had a passion for gardening since the age of nine, when he converted his grandparents back garden in Wakefield into his own allotment. He was a finalist in BBC 3's Young Gardener of the Year in 2011 and went on to study for two years at RHS Wisley Gardens. Leaving with a distinction in 2015, Jamie become Show Plant Manager for leading plant nursery Hortus Loci, where he was responsible for growing plants for all major RHS shows, including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Jamie's work as an ambassador for the RHS sees him travel across the UK, visiting schools and colleges where he shows young people what a fun, exciting and rewarding career horticulture really is, and how horticulture really can save the world. Jamie is also BBC Radio London's gardening expert, joining Robert Elms live in the studio on Saturday mornings, along with being a regular gardening guest for both Talk Radio and BBC Berkshire.

Jo McAuley is a food stylist and cookery writer living in Lemmoye, France. She has worked on a number of magazines and has written several cookery books including Indoor Grilling, Citrus, Panini and Olive & Oil, all published by Hamlyn.

Judith Miller

Judith Miller began collecting in the 1960s while a student at Edinburgh University in Scotland. She has since extended and reinforced her knowledge of antiques through international research, becoming one of the world's leading experts in the field. In 1979 she co-founded the international best-seller Miller's Antiques Price Guide and has since written more than 100 books which are held in high regard by collectors and dealers.Judith Miller appears regularly on TV and radio. She is an expert on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow and has co-hosted the popular BBC series The House Detectives, ITV's Antiques Trail, and Discovery's It's Your Bid. She has appeared on The Martha Stewart Show and CNN. She is a regular lecturer and contributor to numerous newspapers and magazines, including the Financial Times, the Daily Telegraph, BBC Homes & Antiques and House & Garden. She has lectured extensively, including at the V&A in London and the Smithsonian in Washington.

Katherine Allen

Katherine Allen has been teaching Qigong and Taiji from 1992. She is a senior instructor member, past committee member and honorary vice president of The Tai Chi Union for Great Britain. She is a Level 8 senior instructor of Practical Tai Chi Chuan International, and an instructor member of the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts. Since 1992 she has taught thousands of people of all ages and requirements, and given workshops, talks, demonstrations and performances to a wide variety of groups and institutions, including London Mind Body Soul exhibitions and GMTV. Her longtime interest in physical and mental health and the mysteries of a joyful, peaceful, youthful spirit are driving forces in her life.

Kathryn Bruton

Kathryn Bruton has spent over ten years working in the food industry, from restaurant kitchens and private catering to working on Masterchef. She has also worked on a host of best selling cookbooks, as well as appearing frequently on Irish television. The Skinny Series (including Skinny Soups and Skinny Salads) reflects her ambition to create enticing and unusual recipes that are high in nutrition and low in calories.

Lia Leendertz

Lia Leendertz is an award-winning garden and food writer. She writes a monthly almanac column for the Telegraph, a monthly column for The Garden magazine and a long-running series on growing and eating seasonally for Simple Things magazine. She also contributes frequently to the Guardian and Gardens Illustrated. She is the author of several gardening books and the cookbook Petal, Leaf, Seed: Cooking with the garden's treasures. Matthew Biggs

Matthew Biggs trained at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, has presented numerous television programmes, notably Channel 4's Garden Club, and is a regular panellist on BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time. He has written several books, including RHS Lessons From Great Gardeners (also Mitchell Beazley). Matthew contributes to several magazines, including the RHS's The Garden, BBC Gardeners' World and Gardens Illustrated. He lectures at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Oxford University Botanic Gardens and the Cookery School of Michelin-starred chief Jean-Christophe Novelli, and is Course Director of the Plants and Plantsmanship course at the English Gardening School.

Matthew Keightley

Matt Keightley is an award-winning garden designer with more than 12 years' experience in the landscaping industry and a reputation as one of the UK's most exciting young garden designers.He made waves within the landscaping industry in 2014 when, as a debutant at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, he was awarded the RHS Silver-Gilt Medal and the highly acclaimed BBC People's Choice Award for his 'Help for Heroes' show garden, dedicated to the wounded men and women of the armed forces. Michael Freeman

Michael Freeman, professional photographer and best-selling author, was born in England in 1945, took a Masters in Geography at Brasenose College, Oxford University, and then worked in advertising in London for six years. In 1971 he made the life-changing decision to travel up the Amazon with two secondhand cameras, and when Time-Life used many of the pictures he came back with, he embarked on a full-time photographic career.Since then, working for clients that include all the world's major magazines, most notably the Smithsonian Magazine (for which he has shot more than 40 stories over 30 years), Freeman's reputation as one of the world's leading reportage photographers has been consolidated. Nargisse Benkabbou

Nargisse Benkabbou was raised in Brussels, where she grew up in a strongly food-oriented family that continually nurtured her connection with her roots and country of origin, Morocco.After living in Brussels and Paris, Nargisse moved to London to pursue her education in Politics only to realize that her love for cooking and food was a real passion. After training at Leiths School of Food and Wine, she started blogging and sharing her Moroccan recipes 'with a twist'. Her work currently involves recipe and menu development, cooking classes, working as a guest chef and hosting supper clubs.
