Dave Broom

Award-winning author and whisky expert Dave Broom has been writing about whisky for 25 years as a journalist and author. He has written eight books, two of which (Drink! and Rum) won the Glenfiddich Award for Drinks Book of the Year. He has also won the Glenfiddich Award for Drinks Writer of the Year twice and recently won the extremely prestigious IWSC Communicator of the Year Award. Ian Wisniewski

Ian Wisniewski is a food, drink and travel writer and broadcaster, specializing in spirits, particularly whisky and especially Scotch whisky. He is the author of three books on whisky, including Classic Malt Whisky, and contributes to various publications including Whisky Magazine, Whisky Quarterly and Malt Whisky Yearbook, and was a contributor to Michael Jackson's encyclopedic book, Whisky. He conducts tutored tastings and classes on whisky, and visits distilleries on a regular basis to learn more about the production process, which is one of his favourite subjects. He is a Master of the Quaich.

Michael Freeman

Michael Freeman, professional photographer and best-selling author, was born in England in 1945, took a Masters in Geography at Brasenose College, Oxford University, and then worked in advertising in London for six years. In 1971 he made the life-changing decision to travel up the Amazon with two secondhand cameras, and when Time-Life used many of the pictures he came back with, he embarked on a full-time photographic career.Since then, working for clients that include all the world's major magazines, most notably the Smithsonian Magazine (for which he has shot more than 40 stories over 30 years), Freeman's reputation as one of the world's leading reportage photographers has been consolidated. Of his many books, which have sold over 4 million copies worldwide, more than 60 titles are on the practice of photography. For this photographic educational work he was awarded the Prix Louis Philippe Clerc by the French Ministry of Culture.Freeman's books on photography have been translated into 27 languages.

Neil Beckett

Neil Beckett's interest in wine stretches back for many years, so much so that his MBA dissertation was on White Burgundy. He has spent time in Burgundy, and has also qualified for the WSET Diploma, graduating with distinction. As well as working for wine shipping company Richards Walford, he has also worked at Harpers Wine & Spirit Weekly where he was a contributing editor for many years and in 2004 became the first editor of the critically-acclaimed, leading wine magazine, The World of Wine, on which he works with Hugh Johnson and Andrew Jefford. He is one of two UK tasters on the Grand Jury Européen du vin and his wine writing has won prizes.

Peter Furtado

Peter Furtado has been the editor of History Today magazine since 1998. He holds degrees in History and Art History from Oxford University and has edited many reference works on world history, including the Atlas of World History which was 'wholly admirable...a great achievement' (Daily Telegraph). He is a fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

Robin Scagell

Robin Scagell is a long-serving Vice President of Britain's Society for Popular Astronomy. A lifelong stargazer, he has worked as an observer and photographer, and as a journalist has edited a wide range of popular-interest magazines. Robin is the author of several popular astronomy books, and has contributed to many other publications. He has been awarded the Sir Arthur Clarke Award for Space Reporting in recognition of his many appearances on TV and radio talking about astronomy and space.

Timothy d'Offay

Over 20 years ago while living in Japan's ancient capital Kyoto, Timothy d'Offay became fascinated by tea culture and the tea growing areas around the city. Using Japan as a base, he soon started to explore the tea traditions of Taiwan, Korea, and Hong Kong as well. These experiences led him to start importing tea in the late 1990s from the people and places he had visited and in 2000 he co-founded East Teas at Borough Market with the tea expert Alex Fraser. Since then he has travelled extensively to many of the world's most famous tea producing areas. Timothy is the owner and founder of Postcard Teas.
