Biographical Notes

Camilla Fayed is the originator and founder of Farmacy. Having always been passionate about healthy eating and conscious living, Camilla began her journey into the world of plant-based living after the birth of her first child.

Having experienced the powerful, healing benefits of a plant-based diet herself, and after extensive research and travels, Camilla was inspired to create Farmacy; a place where she could share her philosophy on nutrition and help bring the conscious eating revolution to London.

Camilla's aim with Farmacy was to make healthy eating fun, in a beautiful setting. Since its launch in 2016, the flagship Notting Hill restaurant, has become renowned for its innovative and delicious organic dishes, as well as its exciting array of plant-based comfort foods. Labelled as the 'friendly face' of plant-based eating in London, Farmacy champions the notion that 'food is medicine' and supports both local farming and sustainability.

Under Camilla's direction, the Farmacy team work hard to constantly experiment and evolve the menu, with the regular introduction of new seasonal dishes and superfood ingredients. In 2017, Camilla and her executive chef team created London's first 100% plant-based, cannabidiol (CBD)-themed afternoon tea offering; it was an instant success.

In 2018, Camilla launched her first, semi-permanent, Farmacy pop-up shot bar at Selfridges, London, as part of their #EatHappy campaign.

Camilla has spoken at several conscious living events and debates and in 2017 acted as the UK's plant-based spokesperson on BBC Worldwide as part of a debate dedicated to World Vegan Day.

Following the release of the Farmacy Kitchen Cookbook, Camilla is keen to open several other Farmacy restaurant sites across London and expand the brand worldwide.

Chef on a Diet: Loving Your Body and Your Food

Sophie Michell
Authors:
Sophie Michell

They say you should never trust a skinny chef - but what if that skinny chef held the secret to losing weight without compromising on foodie pleasure? In her new book, executive chef Sophie Michell reveals the recipes she herself has used to lose weight despite spending all day, every day, surrounded by food. Sophie has developed this diet with an emphasis on flavour, so you'll never feel like you're missing out, even as you drop the pounds. The recipes have been carefully formulated to provide you with essential proteins and nutrients, and will leave you full of energy, with your taste buds satisfied and your body slimmer. With everything from smoothies and juices to brunches, packed lunches and impressive yet achievable mains, this diet allows you to really embrace your love of food. Enjoy a breakfast of Avocado and Chipotle Frittata, a dinner of Crisp Duck Wings with Miso Glaze and Kimchi Salad, and an array of tempting sweet dishes such as Hazelnut and Dark Chocolate Cake. The recipes are so tasty you'll want to keep cooking them long after you reach your goal weight, helping you to maintain it - as Sophie says, a successful diet is 'a life choice, not something you endure to lose the pounds. ' With the focus on flavour and enjoyment rather than calorie counting, it's time to diet like a chef.

Daniel Green, GREEN, DANIEL
Authors:
Daniel Green, GREEN, DANIEL

The Paleo diet is all about returning to a healthier way of life - cutting out all the heavily processed, high fat, fast food that is an invention of recent times, and getting back to the fruits, veg, meat, seafood and nuts that our Paleolithic, hunter-gatherer ancestors thrived on when our species evolved. The digestive system we have now was shaped back then so is makes perfect sense to return to a similar diet - eating organic, omitting dairy and cooking with healthy fats and the right kind of carbs. This diet offers a welcome change in lifestyle that not only helps us lose weight but also enjoy many additional health benefits. The 100 recipes in this book cover breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. They are easy to follow, low in fat and high in flavour and will inspire and encourage you to cook and eat well so you not only lose weight but also look and feel fantastic.

Royal Marsden Cancer Cookbook: Nutritious recipes for during and after cancer treatment, to share with friends and family

Clare Shaw PhD RD
Authors:
Clare Shaw PhD RD

The book is divided into three: a detailed section by Dr Clare Shaw on diet and cancer and the problems you may face during treatment (such as loss of appetite, nausea, sore mouth, change of taste); recipes to cook during treatment, which are nutritionally beneficial and wholesome enough to keep you strong even if you can't eat too much; and a section of recipes for after treatment aimed at keeping you healthy. These recipes are designed to serve smaller portions and two people as well as families, and there are lots of tips about budgeting, leftovers and freezing. Dr Shaw wants to emphasise that you don't have to cook 'special', separate meals for one, the rest of the family can eat in the same way, saving on time and stress as well as encouraging a healthier diet for all.
