Cocktail of the Week: Bourbon to Be Wild
Bourbon to Be Wild
Born to be Wild
Steppenwolf
1968
A throbbing, turbo-charged, heavy-riffing rock classic, Steppenwolf’s ‘born to
be Wild’ remains as relevant today as it was in the raucous, revolting Sixties
that spawned it. Frontman John Kay reflected that every generation thinks that
it, too, is born wild – and can identify with the song by dancing round and
making motorbike noises while mixing up cocktails based loosely on the title
of the track. Okay, so he didn’t really say that second part, but we’re fairly
certain that’s what he meant. And for those occasions, this cocktail right here
is your go-to guy…
Makes 1
ice cubes
2 measures bourbon
3 teaspoons orange liqueur
2 teaspoons lemon juice
4 measures ginger beer
2 dashes angostura bitters
Fill a Collins glass with ice cubes, add the remaining ingredients and stir.
