Happy 90th Birthday: Queen Martini from Difford’s Guide
On 6 February 1952, Elizabeth Windsor became Queen. Queen Elizabeth II is the second
living monarch to achieve a Diamond Jubilee. In 1952 her father, George VI, died in his sleep at Sandringham House, having reigned for only 15 years. Elizabeth heard the news
in Treetops, a safari lodge in Kenya, where she had been sleeping in a tree house while on a tour of Africa. She was the first British royal to become monarch while out of the country, and, obviously, the first to do so in a tree house. We are toasting Her Majesty
with a cocktail fit for a queen.
1½ shots London dry gin
½ shot dry vermouth
½ shot sweet vermouth
½ shot orange juice
½ shot pineapple juice.
Shake ingredients with ice and strain into chilled glass.
