Handpicked: Newington Table

Stoke Newington is abuzz with new openings so we couldn’t wait to try Newington Table which arrived earlier this year. We heard on the grapevine that they offered a brilliant brunch including their full English comprised of Sourdough, egg, sausage, thick cut bacon, black pudding, bone marrow, beans, tomato and mushroom for £11.50 so we opted to try their evening menu to see if the hype lasted the night. Luckily, this trendy space did not disappoint. Though large plates were on offer, the range of small plates available were too tempting to miss. From the moment the house made bread with cultured butter arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. The Burrata, oregano and XO olive oil was beautifully simple and incredibly creamy. Contrasted with the garlicky hit from the Cime di rapa, ricotta & chilli and sharp hit of the Artichokes, a la greque and wild garlic aioli, this meal was a delight for the palate. The meal was complete with the Lamb sweet breads, broad beans & wild garlic – highly recommended by their ever-attentive and professional staff. Filled with such a range of dishes, we couldn’t face their tempting desserts but we’re sure to be back – we want to savour the acclaimed brunch!
